Peacock has canceled Laid after one season, ending the dark comedy’s run despite a cliffhanger finale.
Starring Oscar-nominated actress Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Joy Ride), Laid follows Ruby Yao, a woman whose former sexual partners begin mysteriously dying in the order she slept with them. As the body count rises, Ruby, alongside her best friend and roommate AJ (Zosia Mamet), races to uncover the cause and protect those still alive.
The series, developed by Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat) and Sally Bradford McKenna, is based on an Australian original.
In addition to Hsu and Mamet, the ensemble included Michael Angarano, Tommy Martinez, and a long list of notable guest stars such as Simu Liu (Last Breath), Adeline Rudolph (Resident Evil), Chloe Fineman, Finneas O’Connell, Kate Berlant, and Alexandra Shipp.
