Marvel Studios has officially unveiled the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, bringing back familiar MCU faces alongside legacy X-Men actors and the new Fantastic Four. Among those confirmed is Simu Liu, reprising his role as Shang-Chi for the first live-action appearance since his 2021 solo debut. The announcement was part of a nearly five-and-a-half-hour livestream, which also revealed Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom and the inclusion of actors such as Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), and Patrick Stewart (Professor X).
Liu reacted to the news on social media with his signature humor, writing, "pokes head out of karaoke booth."

His return in Doomsday comes as fans eagerly await updates on Shang-Chi 2, which remains in development under director Destin Daniel Cretton. While the sequel's timeline remains uncertain, Liu reassured fans that it has not been derailed. Before Doomsday, the last time audiences saw Shang-Chi was in Marvel’s animated What If? series. Given the character's teased connections to the Avengers, Doomsday could set the stage for his future in the MCU.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
