Netflix has released the trailer for Building the Band, a new music competition series featuring Pussycat Dolls lead singer and Broadway star (and pop band reality show alum) Nicole Scherzinger as a mentor and judge.
The 10-episode show brings together 50 singers who must form six bands without ever laying eyes on one another. Working from individual sound booths, the contestants rely entirely on musical chemistry, connection and raw talent to select bandmates. But once the groups finally meet, looks, choreography, work ethic and style will all come into play.
The series is hosted by AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys. Guest judges include Destiny’s Child alum Kelly Rowland and the late Liam Payne of One Direction, whose appearance marks his final television role before his death in October 2024.
Episodes will roll out in three parts. Episodes one through four will debut July 9. Episodes five through seven arrive July 16. And the final three will drop July 23.
