Sony Pictures Animation has released the first trailer for its upcoming animated feature KPOP Demon Hunters.
Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the story centers on K-pop idols Rumi, Mira, and Zoey—who, when not performing to sold-out arenas, secretly battle sinister forces threatening their fanbase. The trio must confront their most dangerous enemy yet: a rival boy band hiding a demonic secret.
The film features an impressive ensemble voice cast including Partner Track’s Arden Cho, Business Proposal’s Ahn Hyo-seop, Expats and Freaky Tales star Ji-young Yoo, May Hong (Tales of the City), Yunjin Kim (Lost), Joel Kim Booster (Fire Island), and Liza Koshy (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), along with veteran stars Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Squid Game’s Byung Hun Lee.
Original music plays a major role, with songs written and produced by top Korean and international talent from THEBLACKLABEL, including Teddy Park, 24, IDO, DOMINSUK and Danny Chung. Notably, the film features an original song performed by Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung of K-pop supergroup TWICE. Other contributing artists include EJAE, Audrey Nuna, Kevin Woo, and Lea Salonga.
KPOP Demon Hunters premieres on Netflix June 20.
