Disney’s Freakier Friday is bringing the body-swapping chaos back—this time, with a four-way twist. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, the highly anticipated sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday reunites Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan while introducing a fresh ensemble of Asian talents, including Manny Jacinto (The Acolyte) as Lohan’s soon-to-be husband Eric Davies, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never Have I Ever), and Sophia Hammons (Under Wraps) as Eric’s daughter Lily Davies.
The film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) first switched bodies, with Anna now navigating life as a mother and soon-to-be stepmother. When an unexpected mystical mishap causes Anna, Tess, Anna’s daughter, and her stepdaughter to swap bodies, the family must untangle their identities again, this time with even more intergenerational baggage to set in order.
Fans of the original will be delighted to see the return of Rosalind Chao, Lucille Soong, Chad Michael Murray, and Mark Harmon.
Ganatra, who will continue the adaptation of the 1972 book Freaky Friday by Mary Rodgers, is best known for directing Late Night, starring Mindy Kaling, as well as episodes of Welcome to Chippendales and And Just Like That.
Freakier Friday hits theaters on Aug. 8.
