Lilly Singh, one of YouTube’s earliest stars with 14 million followers, is expanding her influence beyond content creation and amplifying South Asian voices like never before. With her new media company, HYPHEN8, she’ll be helping creators turn content into careers. Dedicated to uplifting South Asian YouTubers and co-founded with Skara Ventures, the company will help creators secure brand deals, optimize monetization, and manage direct advertising sales.
For Singh, who made history from 2019-21 as the first woman of color to host a late night network talk show with NBC’s A Little Late with Lilly Singh, this venture is personal. “When I began posting on YouTube in 2010, there weren’t many resources to create content, especially for someone that looks like me,” she tells Entrepreneur. Now, she’s ensuring future creators have the opportunities she once lacked.
With brands increasingly eager to reach South Asian audiences, Singh believes these creators hold unique value. “There are so many South Asians on this planet,” she says in Entrepreneur. “It doesn’t even necessarily mean that the brand or product has to be South Asian in nature.”
HYPHEN8 joins Singh’s growing media empire, alongside her production company Unicorn Island and upcoming film Doin’ It.
