The women of KPop Demon Hunters are going up, up, up. Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation have officially locked in a sequel to the global phenomenon that became Netflix’s most-watched movie of all time.

The followup is currently slated for release in 2029, though timelines may shift as the animation process unfolds.

KPop Demon Hunters follows a trio K-pop girl group (Huntr/x) who fight demons through the power of music. The film’s soundtrack has dominated the Billboard Hot 100 and is up for serious Academy Award consideration. On Oct. 7, EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, the real-life singers behind Huntr/x, made their first televised performance together on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with their viral anthem “Golden.”

Next up, the trio will make their first full concert appearance at KIIS-FM’s Jingle Ball on Dec. 5 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, after performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. EJAE is also continuing her solo rise with her new single “In Another World” and a recent signing with WME.

Meanwhile Arden Cho, who voices Huntr/x leader Rumi, is diving into new territory with Perfect Girl, an upcoming K-pop slasher from director Lynn Q. Yu. The film recently expanded its cast to include fellow KPop Demon Hunters star May Hong, K-pop stars Nancy (formerly of MOMOLAND), Chaerin of Cherry Bullet, soloist Somi, and Siyoon of Billlie, among others.
