Callina Liang has been cast as Chun-Li in Legendary’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Street Fighter, based on the iconic Capcom video game franchise.

Known for her recent breakout performance in Steven Soderbergh’s Presence, which premiered at Sundance in 2024, Liang will take on the role of the skilled martial artist and Interpol agent, who first appeared in the 1991 game Street Fighter II, and has since become a fan-favorite character.

Liang joins a star-studded ensemble that includes Andrew Koji (Worth the Wait), Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa (Chief of War, Minecraft) and Orville Peck.

Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) is set to direct the film, though plot details remain under wraps.

Liang’s other credits include the thriller Bad Genius and a recurring role on Apple TV+’s Foundation.

This marks the franchise’s return to live-action more than three decades after the 1994 Street Fighter film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Ming-Na Wen (who originated the role of Chun-Li). With more than 55 million units sold globally, Street Fighter remains one of the most enduring and best-selling fighting game franchises in history.
