The exhibit will feature more than 100 original items from his films and creation process

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles is celebrating the visionary mind of Bong Joon Ho with Director’s Inspiration: Bong Joon Ho, the first-ever museum exhibition of any kind dedicated to the acclaimed South Korean filmmaker. Open now through Jan 10, 2026, the exhibit explores Bong’s creative process through more than 100 original items, including storyboards, concept art, props, and behind-the-scenes materials from his films.

In addition, the exhibition includes a retrospective screening series of Bong’s filmography, which will run for the duration of the exhibit, allowing audiences to experience his work on the big screen. Visitors can also explore an interactive space designed to reflect Bong’s creative inspirations.

From the chilling crime drama Memories of Murder and the monster spectacle The Host, to the thought-provoking epics Snowpiercer and Mickey 17, Bong has long been celebrated for his masterful blend of genre storytelling and sharp social commentary. However, it was Parasite (2019) that solidified his legacy, making history as the first non-English language film to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

The exhibition is part of a three-year partnership between the Academy Museum and Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM, the latter of which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The deal aims to bridge across cultures and spotlight Korean and Asian cinema’s impact on Hollywood.
