Astrology with Alice: What astrological chaos will the rest of 2025 bring?

The year has been wild so far; will the cosmos continue to throw things our way, or will we finally get a break?

Will the second half of 2025 be as much of a rollercoaster as the first half?

Astrology with Alice: Welcome to Astrology with Alice, a monthly astrology column aimed at helping readers understand the vibes of the month ahead in plain English. As a Taiwanese immigrant who grew up in Los Angeles, I specialize in combining western astrology with eastern philosophy. I’ve taught modern astrology through the lens of Buddhism and Taoism, and I also draw from the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. Knowing the movements of the planets can help us make decisions around our careers, relationships, family. As the planets move around in the sky, they shift the energetic vibes we experience on Earth, and I believe in flowing with energy instead of fighting it—to work smarter, not harder. So join me on our monthly planetary lowdowns and learn how you, too, can ride the cosmic waves!

We’re more than halfway through this wild year, and we’ve already seen major shifts—astrologically, politically, and for many of us, personally.

This year began with high hopes, but it’s unfolded more like a series of tectonic jolts than a smooth new chapter. With so much still unsettled, it’s easy to feel like we need to keep pushing forward, grasping for clarity or resolution. But the midpoint of August offers a different kind of invitation—to pause, take stock, and exhale.

Before the pace picks up again this fall (which we’ll talk about), this brief astrological respite in the year gives us space to reflect on where we’ve been and to consider where we’re heading.

The year so far

The first half of 2025 has felt like a collective threshold event, as if we were crossing from one chapter into another without knowing where the plot might be taking us. As I stated back in December 2024, this is an unprecedented year astrologically. No one alive today has seen five major planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) all changing signs in one year, and it won’t happen again for centuries. We’re at a crossroads where old systems, attitudes, and ideologies are unraveling to make room for the new.

So what, exactly, is deconstructing? Let’s recap.

Pluto in Aquarius has pushed us to question the foundations of power. Which systems are failing? Who has influence, and why? In Aquarius, Pluto doesn’t just whisper from the shadows. It exposes where collective ideals have become rigid, corrupted, or disconnected from humanity. The evolutionary intent of Pluto in Aquarius is to reshape how we organize ourselves as a society and to transform power on a collective scale, with a focus on equity, shared vision, and technological systems that reflect rather than dominate human values.

This isn’t about self-interest or isolation, but, rather, it’s a call to develop the kind of inner strength and clarity that allows us to meet our lives with courage, initiative, and spiritual maturity.

At the same time, another shift took place—one that’s moving our attention from the outer structures of society to the inner landscape of identity and purpose. With Saturn and Neptune now in Aries, the focus has shifted inwards and on the self. This isn’t about self-interest or isolation, but, rather, it’s a call to develop the kind of inner strength and clarity that allows us to meet our lives with courage, initiative, and spiritual maturity.

Saturn in Aries confronts us with the responsibility of becoming what we want to be. It pushes us to take ownership of our choices and commit to paths that reflect our actual values, not the ones we inherited. Meanwhile, Neptune in Aries has brought a different kind of confrontation. It dissolves the masks and projections that once shaped our identities, clearing away illusion and confusion, and it often does so through disorientation. So together, these two planets joining in Aries are stripping us down to our essentials and dare us to ask ourselves: “Who are we without the script? What dream are we willing to defend, even if no one else understands it yet? And what are we going to do to take actionable steps towards bringing that dream closer to reality?”

This isn’t the soft surrender of Neptune in Pisces or the quiet unraveling of Saturn in Pisces we’ve previously been experiencing over the last few years. It’s raw and confrontational, and it can feel like a spiritual reboot—like a fire that burns away what no longer fits. The invitation now isn’t to have everything figured out, but, rather, to align with your deeper values even if the vision is still taking shape.

Aries energy doesn’t wait for certainty. It moves when the spark is true, and we’re all discovering our inner spark now, and will continue to do so.

Meanwhile, Jupiter spent the first half of the year wrapping up its transit through Gemini, amplifying conversations, distractions, and the urge to chase stimulation. Then, come June, Jupiter entered Cancer, which shifted the tone towards emotional nourishment and the desire to settle and grow roots. Energetically, this is a relief from overstimulation.

All in all, if you’ve felt overwhelmed, pressured to “figure it all out,” or like you’re straddling two eras, you’re right where the cosmos want you to be.

The second half of 2025

So what does all of this mean for the rest of the year? The second half of 2025 will feel different from the roller coaster of the first half. It’ll feel less like waves crashing and more like sediment settling. The chaos may quiet down, yet what unfolds will carry more consequential weight.

Jupiter will remain in Cancer, where its influence becomes more emotional, fertile, and protective. It wants to nurture what feels meaningful, but that desire may be hard to act on with Saturn still moving through Aries. The tension between expansion and responsibility will continue contributing to an air of uncertainty because Jupiter will stir a longing for connection and meaning while Saturn urges us to focus, commit, and take full ownership of our direction.

This dynamic might show up in smaller, more personal ways, like questioning where your energy goes or wondering if comfort and courage can exist side by side. Saturn wants us to pick something and commit to it while Jupiter wants us to believe we can have it all. One is idealistic, the other is realistic. Both are right and neither are wrong. And the only way to navigate the two extremes is to take your time and not rush your decisions.

An upcoming conjunction of sweet Venus and lucky Jupiter on Aug. 12 will offer a brief but meaningful opportunity to connect with what feels nourishing, joyful, and emotionally true. It’ll be a good time to slow down and notice what expands your heart. Spend time with people who bring you peace, create something beautiful with your hands, cook a meal that feels cozy, or write about what you’re craving—not just materially, but emotionally. This isn’t about indulgence for its own sake. It’s about decompression, realignment, and peace. (It’s also a great time for beauty treatments, so if you’re thinking of trying out a new procedure or hairstyle, the days leading up to and following the conjunction are the time to do it.)

This isn’t about indulgence for its own sake. It’s about decompression, realignment, and peace.

At the same time, deeper forces are quietly reshaping the landscape. The slower-moving planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) are moving into a rare, harmonious rhythm that supports long-term transformation. Change may not feel dramatic or sudden, but it’s unfolding steadily. We’re being invited to redesign the structures we live within, guided by vision, integrity, and an emerging sense that the old ways are no longer enough. The ability to tap into this cosmic support, however, hinges on our courage and willingness to let go of everything that’s outdated, even if we’re attached to it—especially if we’re attached to it. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are only concerned with our ongoing evolution, so they will only help us if we’re willing to grow and relinquish some control. Therefore, there is cosmic scaffolding to support us, but it’s only there in the name of helping us grow into the best versions of ourselves, even if that process might feel uncomfortable.

The fall eclipses arrive on Sept. 7 and Sept. 21, landing in Pisces and Virgo. These signs speak to healing, inspiration, devotion, discernment, and the wisdom of knowing what to release. The Pisces eclipse may bring emotional closure or reveal something that’s been falsely idealized. The Virgo eclipse offers a practical reset that will help us to see what deserves our care and attention. In this way, these eclipses echo the previously discussed tension between Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn in Aries. Both the planets and the eclipses will ask us to balance emotion with effort, hope with realism, and vision with discernment. Together, they encourage us to stay connected to what feels good to us while building a life that can truly support it.

We’re entering a new season of becoming, but the ground is still settling beneath our feet. The instability of the first half of the year hasn’t just been astrological. In the world, we’ve seen reflections of the cosmic turbulence in global events, politics, and a general feeling that old systems are fracturing. If you feel like the first half of the year has given you whiplash, you’re not alone.

It’s important to understand that it’s natural to feel grief in these transitions—both collectively and personally. The ongoing Neptune and Saturn transits in Aries are serious, not because they ask us to push, but because they ask us to pause and feel the weight of what is passing. We’re not meant to rush into reinvention. We’re meant to first notice what we’re leaving behind before we can move forward.

So while it’s tempting to want clear answers and concrete steps, the rest of the year will be about observing and witnessing. What wants to emerge will take time, and the energy is still shifting. If things feel unclear, it’s because they are, and not because you’re missing something. So wait and listen. The vision is still coming into focus.

Sign-by-sign forecast for the rest of 2025

Look up your sign and your rising sign. If you don’t know your rising sign, use this free rising sign calculator.

The astrological sign for aries.Aries

You’re changing from the inside out. You’re not just evolving—you’re starting over, questioning what you believe and who you want to become. But first, old dreams, identities, or ideals that no longer hold up must be released and mourned to make room for new dreams. Furthermore, the new dreams that follow will set the course for your future, so be patient and give them time to meaningfully unfold.

The astrological sign for taurusTaurus

Big changes are revealing themselves in your work and purpose, and they’re asking you to think differently in bold, new ways. However, the real clarity comes when you slow down and listen inward, because your inner compass is strong. Let inspiration guide you towards the next version of your career.

The astrological sign for geminiGemini

You’re changing more than you realize. This isn’t just a style shift—your sense of self, your vision for the future, and your beliefs are all up in flux. Don’t cling to old roles. Let them crumble away, and let the reinvention happen.

The astrological sign for cancer.Cancer

This is a year of becoming. Becoming more visible. Becoming more confident. Becoming more you. You are expanding, and you’re being called to clarify your path in the world. Your career or role in the world may feel foggy at the moment, but you don’t have to figure it all out right now. Let your actions reflect who you want to become as opposed to what you think you’re supposed to be.

The astrological sign for leo.Leo

You’re learning that you don’t have to earn love by performing, pleasing, or proving. The more you root into your own worth and your own authenticity, the more your relationships shift in response. Let go of old ideas and roles that have kept you seeking validation. This is about showing up as you are and trusting that it’s enough. Real intimacy begins when you stop performing and start receiving.

The astrological sign for virgo.Virgo

You’re in a cycle of major personal and professional reinvention, but it starts with confronting the fears that keep you playing small. Let go of the “shoulds” and “oughts” that are actually rooted in fear. This is the time to dream bigger, trust your future vision, and step into the unknown. The more courage you bring to your goals, the more healing you can accomplish.

The astrological sign for libra.Libra

Something is shifting in how you see the world and your place in it. It’s changing how you show up in love, too. Let go of outdated beliefs that undermined your value. Relationships are asking for honesty now, not performance. Trust your growth, even if it takes you off the path that you expected. A leap of faith in yourself is what’s necessary.

The astrological sign for scorpio.Scorpio

You’re being asked to surrender what you thought you knew about life, purpose, and yourself. This is a year for spiritual maturity and for bowing to a teacher or a path that can guide your growth. The more you relax your need to control, the more clarity you’ll find. Let humility guide you into your next chapter.

The astrological sign for sagittarius.Sagittarius

This year asks you to get real about love. We’re not talking about just romance—we’re talking about the kind of intimacy that requires presence and emotional honesty. Relationships may shift, deepen, or surprise you. Something is changing in your home life, too, and it’s going to challenge you to create a foundation that supports the connection you truly want.

The astrological sign for capricorn.Capricorn

You’re being asked to slow down—not out of weakness, but wisdom. Your body, domestic life, and inner world are all calling for your attention and for you to come home to yourself. This is a time to redefine what success looks like in sustainable terms. Let go of the hustle and achievement-oriented mindset long enough to listen to what your body and soul actually need.

The astrological sign for aquarius.Aquarius

This is a year of undoing. It’s not because you’ve failed, but because something deeper and truer is trying to surface from within you, so a certain degree of deconstruction must happen first to make space for the new awareness. Who are you beneath the roles, routines, and assumptions? Release, let go, and let the unraveling reveal the shape of your new foundation.

The astrological sign for pisces.Pisces

It’s time to change the stories you tell yourself. Old patterns, especially the insidiously quiet ones running in the background, are ready to be rewritten. Your inner hero begs to emerge to claim their place at the forefront of your story. As your confidence and belief in your worth grows, so do your relationships. Let yourself be seen, and remember that you don’t have to shrink to stay safe.
