Astrology with Alice: Welcome to Astrology with Alice, a monthly astrology column aimed at helping readers understand the vibes of the month ahead in plain English. As a Taiwanese immigrant who grew up in Los Angeles, I specialize in combining western astrology with eastern philosophy. I’ve taught modern astrology through the lens of Buddhism and Taoism, and I also draw from the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. Knowing the movements of the planets can help us make decisions around our careers, relationships, family. As the planets move around in the sky, they shift the energetic vibes we experience on Earth, and I believe in flowing with energy instead of fighting it—to work smarter, not harder. So join me on our monthly planetary lowdowns and learn how you, too, can ride the cosmic waves!

Over the past year, I’ve been a bit of a broken record. Big vibe shift, incoming! We’re building toward something big! We’ve covered a lot of astrological ground: Neptune moved into Aries for the first time since the Civil War. Saturn followed. Uranus shook things up in Gemini. Pluto settled into Aquarius. The great conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn shifted into air signs for the first time since the Middle Ages. Five major planets all changed signs within a year of each other, something so unprecedented that our grandchildren won't see it happen in their lifetimes.

We’ve been building towards a climax, and, this month, we’ve finally arrived.

On Feb. 20, the planets Saturn and Neptune formed a conjunction at 0º Aries. This is the most significant astrological event of the year, and for many of us, it’ll be one of the most impactful transits we’ll experience in our lifetime (especially for certain Aries).

What is the Saturn-Neptune conjunction?

A conjunction happens when two planets line up from our perspective here on Earth. And when it happens, it’s like the planets merge together into one superforce. And because Saturn and Neptune are further away from the sun in the solar system, they take longer to move around, which means they only form a conjunction every 36 years. Therefore, this conjunction marks a generational turning point.

Saturn is the planet of structure, boundaries, discipline, and hard truths—I’ve called it the planet of “adulting.” It represents our ability to commit, to build, and to deal with reality even when reality isn't fun. Neptune is the opposite in almost every way. Neptune is the planet of dreams, imagination, transcendence, and dissolution. Where Saturn builds walls, Neptune dissolves them. Where Saturn demands proof, Neptune asks us to have faith.

Neptune is the planet of dreams, imagination, transcendence, and dissolution. Where Saturn builds walls, Neptune dissolves them. Where Saturn demands proof, Neptune asks us to have faith.

And when these two very different planets come together, it’s like the builder meets the dreamer. Their energies fuse, and the visionary meets the architect. The result is a rare window in time when we're asked to take our deepest dreams and commit to making them real. It also means that dreams that can't withstand Saturn's scrutiny will crumble, which is actually a gift, even if it doesn't feel like one at first.

This energy can feel confusing and frustrating, because we’re dissatisfied with what we have now, but we don’t yet know how to bring about our vision. (Heck, some of us—myself included—are still working on the vision!) We know we don’t want what we have, but we don’t yet know what we actually want.

However, in the midst of the confusion, what we really have is an opportunity to change the course of our lives.

Why this conjunction feels different

Saturn-Neptune conjunctions happen every 36 years. The last three conjunctions happened in 1989, 1953, and 1917. In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union collapsed. 1953 was the year Stalin died and the Korean War ended. And the 1917 conjunction coincided with the Bolshevik Revolution that not only changed Russia, but reshaped the entire geopolitical landscape of the 20th century. Each of these conjunctions coincided with a collective rewriting and rewiring of what’s real and what’s possible. (And, yes, these conjunctions have tended to coincide with major events in Russian history, so I’m definitely paying attention to Russia this year!)

But this conjunction is even more extraordinary because of where in the zodiac it's happening. Saturn and Neptune are meeting at 0° Aries, a degree known to astrologers as the Vernal Point, or the World Point. This is the very first degree of the entire zodiac. If the zodiac were a clock, then 0° Aries is midnight on January 1st. It's where everything begins.

The last time Saturn and Neptune conjoined specifically at 0° Aries is believed to have been roughly 9,000 years ago, around 7,000 B.C., a period that coincided with the birth of agriculture and the dawn of settled human civilization. Let that sink in for a moment. We're living through an alignment that hasn't occurred since humans were literally learning how to stop wandering and start building.

So hopefully this answers why we’re talking about this conjunction even though it already happened near the end of the month. The effects of it will continue to be felt over the next year, if not decade.

What this conjunction brings

Every Saturn-Neptune conjunction closes out the previous 36-year cycle and opens a new one, so we’re closing out the cycle that began in 1989. We’re basically ending a chapter while starting a new one. Think of it like the first breath a baby takes, which is also the end of the pregnancy. You can't have a new beginning without the completion of what came before.

Remember that the death of an outdated vision isn't a failure. Think of it like a launchpad being cleared.

So if you've been feeling like something in your life is ending, something that maybe you invested years in building or believing in, know that the conjunction is working correctly. (Congrats.) Remember that the death of an outdated vision isn't a failure. Think of it like a launchpad being cleared.

And once it's clear? 0° Aries (where this conjunction is happening) is pure ignition energy. All the stuff I’ve been talking about over the last year has been gearing up for this launch. And when (spoiler alert) Jupiter moves into Leo later this year, we'll have even more fire in the mix. The energy of this era is fast, bold, and forward moving. The era of sitting in our feelings and waiting for clarity? That's over.

So let go of whatever you’re clinging onto that you know isn’t helping you to take the leap.

What we’re invited to step into

The most important takeaway that I want you to remember is this:

Aries energy does not wait for the universe to tell it what to do.

This conjunction brings initiatory energy that responds to courage, not compliance. The temptation after years of Pisces fog is to keep waiting for a sign, keep asking for clarity, keep looking outside of yourself for permission to move. And Aries says: clarity comes from moving, not from waiting.

The conjunction of Saturn and Neptune this time is like the cosmos handing you a pen and a blank page. Saturn provides the discipline to commit. Neptune provides the vision that makes the commitment meaningful. Aries provides the spark to actually start. But the content is all up to you to decide.

The people who will thrive under this conjunction are the ones who show up with their own vision and use this energy to build something that's genuinely aligned with who they are. The people who will struggle are the ones still waiting for external direction and are still performing an outdated version of themselves.

If you think back to January, you'll remember that I framed last year as the year of the Hermit, a year of inner work, of figuring out who you truly are beneath the noise. And then I framed 2026 as the year of the Wheel of Fortune, when the wheel finally begins to turn and the seeds you've sown start to sprout. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction is the hinge between those two energies. The inner work is done (or at least, it's done enough). The wheel is turning. And the direction it takes you will depend on the vision you bring to this moment.

So don't wait. Get clear on what you want to build. Get honest about what needs to end. And then move, even if the full picture hasn't come into focus yet. Aries doesn't need the full picture. It just needs the spark.

The fire is lit. Now it's your turn.

How this conjunction affects your sign

The Saturn-Neptune conjunction will affect everyone, but it will hit differently depending on where Aries falls in your birth chart. Read for your sun sign and rising sign for a fuller picture. (If you don't know your rising sign, you can use this free rising sign calculator.)

The astrological sign for aries.Aries

This is happening in your first house of identity. You are ground zero for this conjunction. Old versions of yourself are dissolving, and a new, more authentic version is demanding to be born. Aries—especially those born near the first day of Aries (like me)—are entering the cocoon and submitting to the metamorphosis. The caterpillar dissolves in the cocoon and reforms into a butterfly, so submit to the process. This might feel disorienting, but lean into it. You're not losing yourself. You're finding yourself.

The astrological sign for taurusTaurus

The conjunction is activating your house of the subconscious, spirituality, and what's hidden. Dreams may be vivid. Buried emotions may surface. This is deep, private, internal work. Honor it by giving yourself space and rest. The breakthroughs happening now are below the surface, but they're no less real. Out of all the signs, your transformation is the most Neptune-coded, because Neptune is a spiritual planet and it’s landing in your house of spirituality. Your mantra over the next chapter of life will be “let that sh*t go.”

The astrological sign for geminiGemini

Your house of community, friendship, and future visions is lit up. Some friendships may be dissolving while new alliances form. The groups you belong to and the causes you care about are shifting. Get clear on who your real people are and what collective vision you actually want to be part of. You may not be able to bring your current group with you, because as our goals change, so must the people we surround ourselves with. (And that’s okay.)

The astrological sign for cancer.Cancer

This hits your house of career and public life. Your professional identity is undergoing a major reset. Old career structures may be crumbling, but that's making room for something more aligned. Ask yourself: does your work reflect who you're becoming, or who you used to be? The word for you to chew on is “legacy.” What’s your legacy? And is your current path aligned to it?

The astrological sign for leo.Leo

The conjunction activates your house of belief systems, travel, and higher learning. Your worldview is being restructured. What you once believed to be true may no longer hold. This is an invitation to expand your philosophy of life and seek new sources of wisdom. Travel, education, and new perspectives will be especially transformative. It may also be time for you to step into the role of a teacher, or you might publish your wisdom and stories for the masses to benefit from.

The astrological sign for virgo.Virgo

Your house of shared resources, intimacy, and transformation is where this conjunction lands. Financial entanglements, issues of trust, and power dynamics in close relationships are all up for review. Let go of arrangements that no longer serve you. Something deeper and more honest wants to replace them. This is also a deeply shamanic area of life where we may also confront issues of mortality and spirituality. Don’t be afraid. What’s waiting for you is wisdom.

The astrological sign for libra.Libra

The conjunction is in your seventh house of partnership. This is one of the most relationship-sensitive placements for this transit. Partnerships of all kinds are being tested for structural integrity. Some may dissolve. Others may be renewed with more honesty and commitment. The key is to stop performing harmony and start building it for real.

The astrological sign for scorpio.Scorpio

Your house of health, daily routines, and work habits is activated. The systems that hold your daily life together need an overhaul. If your body has been telling you something, listen. If your work routine is draining rather than sustaining you, this conjunction will make it impossible to ignore. (PSA to my over-45 Scorpios: Get. Your. Checkups.)

The astrological sign for sagittarius.Sagittarius

This lands in your house of creativity, romance, and joy. Your relationship to pleasure and self-expression is being restructured. What genuinely lights you up versus what's just a distraction? This conjunction wants you to commit to the creative vision that's actually yours, not the one that looks good on the outside. Whatever you bring to the world over the next decade will be birthed from the heart and must be soul-led.

The astrological sign for capricorn.Capricorn

The conjunction is in your house of home, family, and roots. The foundations of your private life are shifting. Family dynamics, living situations, or your sense of belonging may all be in flux. Build your home life around what's real, not what's expected. And tend to your inner life, which has probably been neglected through years of hustle and self-denial. This conjunction wants to teach you that you deserve to prioritize yourself.

The astrological sign for aquarius.Aquarius

Your house of communication, learning, and daily interactions is where this conjunction hits. The way you think, communicate, and process information is changing. Old mental patterns are dissolving. New ideas are taking shape. Write, speak, teach, and learn. Your mind is being rewired for a new era. Your perspective is up-leveling, and when your world view shifts, so will you and your life. Your task is to align your environment to who you truly are, and vice versa.

The astrological sign for pisces.Pisces

This conjunction activates your house of money, self-worth, and values. Your relationship with what you earn, what you own, and what you consider valuable is being rebuilt from the ground up. Old beliefs about your worth are dissolving, and Saturn is demanding that you value yourself based on who you actually are, not who you were told to be. Is it time for a career change? Do you actually feel valued?
