The highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is officially underway, and this time, a slate of rising and established talents from the Asian diaspora.
Simone Ashley, known for her breakout role in Bridgerton, has joined the ensemble cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2, alongside Tony-nominated actor Conrad Ricamora (Oh, Mary!), Presence star Lucy Liu, and Helen J. Shen, most recently seen opposite Darren Criss in the Tony award-winning musical Maybe Happy Ending. Ashley’s casting comes as positive news for fans after headlines surrounding her cut scenes in the upcoming F1 film.
The sequel sees Meryl Streep returning as the iconic Miranda Priestly, now grappling with the digital disruption of the fashion publishing world. Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton is no longer a beleaguered assistant, but a powerful fashion executive competing with Priestly for ad revenue. Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and other original cast members are set to return, while Kenneth Branagh joins as Priestly’s husband.
Directed by David Frankel with a script by returning screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated for a May 1, 2026 release.
